What to expect

Before embarking on any programme of treatment it is important for your chiropractor to learn as much as possible about you and your health. Chiropractors are trained to take a comprehensive case history, during which they will ask a number of questions to identify what exactly is wrong. These will be primarily about the reason that's made you seek chiropractic care, but will also explore areas of your general health and lifestyle.

Usually, in order to examine you the chiropractor will ask you to undress to your underwear. Gowns are provided to ensure that your dignity is maintained throughout. Depending on the problem, the chiropractor will perform a range of tests and may examine other areas away from the site of your complaint. She will explain throughout what is happening and why it's necessary to do certain tests.

If x-rays of any other form of imaging is necessary, your chiropractor will explain the reasons why and what the cost implications of further tests will be.
